Apples of Gold...

"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver." Proverbs 25:11
This is our fourth group of ladies to go through Apples of Gold.  Once again we are blessed with committed women who have teachable hearts.  We began this group with a get-to-know-you Tea on a Saturday. .  Two Applesauce ladies (what they are called after they graduate from the class) served us.  After we ate we looked at wedding pictures and heard stories of how we met our husbands.  It was a fun time of sharing!
Our first week's teaching was on Truth, the next week was Kindness and this week we will study Loving Your Husbands.   I, along with the other three mentors, look forward to each week.  We have a theme for each week's meal.  The first was a special dinner (yummy pecan crusted chicken) and last week was Italian.  The cooking demonstration is so much fun as the girls get to not only watch but also try some of the techniques.

I just love having my home filled each week with sweet ladies learning how to be better wives, mothers, friends, etc.

Apples of Gold...

A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.
Proverbs 25:11

Last Thursday night was our Apples of Gold Celebration Dinner. This is the dinner given after the ladies have completed the 6 week program. The spouses are invited to this dinner and we all dress up a little. After a delicious dinner prepared by our cooking mentors and served to us by two couples, we gathered in the living room for a time of sharing. It was such a blessing to hear from the ladies as well as the spouses ways they had benefited from these weeks. We presented each lady with an apron that says Apples of Gold. They are now considered Applesauce and will come back as kitchen helpers the next time we have a group. I meant to take a picture but totally forgot. I, along with the other mentors, were totally surprised with a beautiful bag full of thoughtful gifts from the ladies. Mine had white chocolate (because I can't eat chocolate), an adorable apple cookie cutter, sweet towel and a book mark that one of the ladies made. I loved each thing!!! Another gift each mentor received from one of the ladies was a Willow Tree Angel. Two of us received the Angel of Wonder...doesn't it look like a golden apple in her hand! I love it. The two mentors that prepared the cooking demonstration and meal received one with a tea pot.
I feel loved & blessed by ALL the ladies!!!

Bear hugs...

Our theme last night for Apples of Gold was Valentine's Day (our teaching was on hospitality). I found this cute craft in a magazine called Family Fun. I added a heart shaped cookie cutter since they were going to go to adults instead of children. I placed one at each lady's plate.

You can find this at: FamilyFun: Valentine's Day Treat: Bear Your Heart - and More Family Fun You might want to make one for your Valentine.

Apples of Gold...

Last week was our first week of Apples of Gold. This is the second group we have had go through this mentoring program. It is a 7 week course where women are mentored in different areas.

They learn some cooking skills from two wonderful mentors. I was especially excited to have my sister help in the kitchen this week.

It is also a time where they learn about kindness, how to love their husbands, love their children, along with other things. We have a wonderful teacher that shares with the women while our cooking mentors are preparing our dinner. And believe me, we have some delicious meals.
The program is taken from Titus 2:3-4

Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home; to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God

I am privileged to be the host home as well as a mentor to the ladies. Thought it would be fun to post a few pictures over the next weeks.
