joined our family Sunday, Aug. 2.

She was born on June 16.

Joshua's graduation was held on the field in front of the barracks and chapel that was on Ft. Benning when Jim was in Basic Training. It was called Harmony Church. It was such a thrill for Jim to see all these buildings they have preserved.

Turning Blue...

Today my nephew, Joshua, had his Turning Blue Ceremony at Ft. Benning, GA, where he received his blue cord and officially became an Infantry Soldier. We were so happy to be able to with him and Jim was honored to put on his blue cord.

Coconut-Pecan Bundt Cake

A friend gave me this recipe. Colette and I baked one this morning. Enjoy!

Coconut-Pecan Bundt Cake

Betty Crocker Butter Pecan cake mix (found at Wal-Mart)

4 eggs

1 cup oil

Mix together with mixer.

1 can Coconut Pecan Frosting

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup chopped pecans

Add to cake mixture and stir well (I continue to use mixer)

Prepare a bundt cake pan by spraying it with Pam and then coating with sugar.

Pour batter evenly into pan and bake in 325-350 degree (cooks best in my oven at 325) preheated oven for 1 hour 5 minutes. Leave it in the pan to cool for 10-20 minutes before turning out onto plate.

Freezes well...if any is left. :)

Happy Birthday to me & Jim...

The new Texas Stadium opened for the first time with a George Strait concert (also Le Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, and Reba McIntire) on June 6. Since my birthday is the 7th and Jim's is the 24th we decided this would be our birthday gift to each other. We went with friends and reserved a room in a hotel near the stadium so we would not have to fight the traffic. We ate lunch at Pappasito's (Mexican restaurant) and then rode the trolley from the hotel to the stadium. We were in line when the doors opened at 4:00, as were hundreds of other people. Afterwards we walked with our friends to a restaurant that stayed open all night and had breakfast. The husbands caught a ride to the hotel, drove back and picked us up. It was a fun day with we have some good memories. And...we can always say we were at the first event of the new Cowboys Stadium!
