In 1956 our family moved to a new house. I was almost 9 at the time. After the movers left I walked outside to look around at our new neighborhood. I sat down on a little slope in our backyard and was looking towards our neighbor's house when two boys, close to my age, walked up. One of the boys looked at me and said, "Get off Phil's property!" Now I didn't know who Phil was and I sure didn't think I was on his property! Turns out there was a property line dispute and this 9 yr. old boy took it upon himself to defend his friend's property. I jumped up and ran in the house, crying to my mom, telling her what had been said to me. That was many years ago, but I will never forget that day. I had no idea that I had just met the boy that would one day be my husband! It is a story we still laugh about!
I am so thankful to God that our family moved into that house in Ohio so that I could meet a little boy who lived across the street from me, become his friend and later on in life, his wife! I can't imagine a more wonderful life than the one we have together! I am thankful for all the memories we have made over the years and look forward to making many more.
Happy Anniversary Jim!

I love this blog! I am so happy I can still remember those houses, the street and maybe the property lines! I sure am glad you met that little boy too.
A BIG congratulations on 43 years of marriage! Love the story of the two of you as 9-year-olds. I'm sure you've had many laughs over that incident! What an introduction! Enjoy your day and may God richly bless you this year and in the years to come!
what a wonderful story!!!!! and yes, the Lord had a plan, didn't He!!!
Happy Anniversary!!
You know, the Lord gave me my special neighbors too...in fact, I am not sure I would have come to know the Lord (or at least when I did, age 16) if it had not been for my neighbors that moved in when I was five..
Blessings Elaine
oh, and pretty picture of you both!!
I love this story! Happy anniversary...what a beautiful picture of you both!
My husband was also a neighbor. One of the first things I remember coming out of his mouth was him declaring, " I would NEVER allow my girlfriend wear polish on their toenails," after seeing my newly polished nails. I thought, "Humph...what a jerk (teehee)!"
Now, he is the love of my life and ,yes, he 'allows' me to wear polish on my nails.:) Have a blessed week, my sweet blog friend!
Hi Elaine,
Congratulations on your anniversary! Your story is so sweet. Thanks also for stopping by Every Day Faith. I appreciate your encouragement so much. I've been in a writing slump, but feel like God is moving my heart to start writing again soon.
God bless you. Bridget
Oh gosh. That is the sweetest story ever! :0)
